Goddess Angalaparameswari,foundly Called “Agilandakodi” “Bhiramandanayaki” “Adisakthi” and “Adiparasakthi”. She joined Shiva, Vishnu and Bhiramma in the form of Icha,Kriya and Gnana sakthi before Kirethayuga, Thredhayuga, Thuvabarayuga and Kaliyuga.
Adisakthi “Angali” was the sole sakthi in the fifth “Manvandharam” (Generation).In the Sixth Manvandharam (Generation).She was born to “Thakkan” as a daughter in the name of “Thakshayani” “Angali” is a Asariri (Holy words from heaven).Which is a single form of “Sivasakthi’s” “Panchamugha Philosophy” of “Thathpurusham”,“Agoram” “Sathiyojatham”, “Vamavedam”and “Esanam” to destroy “Thakkan’s yagha” (to get all power).
To be in the form of life and Soul,Eswari joined Parvatharajan Menai.She Married Lord Shiva in the name of “Parvathi”.
“Dhakshayani” last her life in “Yagha fire” done by “Thakkan”.The grief “Struck” “Lord Shiva” took her body on his shoulder and did “Narthana Thandava”.As a result she was made in to pieces.The Pieces where the parts of her body fell are called “Sakthi Beedam”.
Goddess “Angali” Showers her blessings in numerous “Sakthi Beeda’s” in the name “Sandi”,“Mundi”, “Samundi”, “Veeri”, “Vedali”, “Bairavi”, “Bhagavathi”, “Bhathrakali”, “Entolli”,“Tharagari”, “Ammaichi”, “Ammacheri”, “Aayee”, “Periyaayee”, “Periyanayagi”, “Periyandichie” and “Threesuli”.
In begining Melmalayanur was a “Dhandagarunyam” where the goddess “Dhandagarunyal”, “Aranyaniyal”, “Aruniyal”, “Ruthara Aruniyal”, blesses.It is also called “Ruthara Sakthi Beedam”, “Dhandakarunyal” is called goddess “Poongavanathal”.
There arose a conflict among “Mum-Murthies” (Shiva,Vishnu and Bhiramma) that to prove Superiority Prime Murthiee “Lord Shiva” got angry and took of “Lord Bhiramma’s” Proud-Head, So he got “Bhiramma Dosha”.Kapali “Lord Shiva” roamed in the graveyards as “Pithan”, “Peyan” and at last in the month of “Masi” reached “Dhandakarunyam” which is also called “Melmalayanur”. The night which Lord siva reached Melmalayanur is called “Siva-Rathiri” and also “Sakthi-Karagam”.
Next day is the “New moonday”(Ammavasi)(Karuva)on that day all the “Prime Sakthies” Come together become to be a Single “Powerfull Sakthi”.
That “Powerfulsakthi” throws prey in the Graveyard to the souls,when all the souls attempt to eat the thrown foodstuff the head which captured the “Lord Shiva” tried with rest.At that time “Lord Shiva” escaped from “Bhirammadosha” was called “Mayanakollai”, “Mayanasurrai”.
Again the “Cut-head” of “Bhiramma” attained “Vishvarubha” flew and tried to enclose itself with “Lord Shiva”. Now the Melmalayanur Goddess “Poongavanathal”also took “Vishvarubha” caught the head and stamped with her right foot.
Seeing this “Lord Mahavishnu” Conceald these two “Vishvarubha’s” in to the earth.
After sometime an “Oldwoman” came up in sitting posture on the form of Snake hill and changed hereself as snake from a hole (Snake hill) with a well spread a big expanded hood.
All the creatures in the world came and worshipped it,but the hood didn’t shrink.The second day “Male Pudagana” worshipped.The third day “Female Pudagana” adored.”Lion” the king of animal did the same on the Fouthday.On fifth day “Swan” (Annam) Prayed to the spread hooded snake.To heed the request of all the humen beings earthly creatures and“Deva’s”(Celestials)a “White Elephant”(Iyyaravatham)came and worshipped.But in vain.
Then all the “Devars” join together in the form of “Thirutheru” and came arround the snake hill.At the time “Kaliyuga” was born,after “Thuvabarayuga” the snake who was the Goddess of Kaliyuga calmed down and got into the snake hill and disappeared. She settled as Lord “Angalamman” to bless us.
In memory of this Historical incidents (Happenings) every year “Sivarathiri”in the month of “Masi”(Med February-March) is being Celebrated.During the “Car Festival” (Masi-Thirutheru-Thiruvizha) in the month of “Masi” in memory of the creatures who come and worshipped the snake the Goddess come on “Male puda”, “Female puda”, “Lion”, “Swan”(Annam) and “White Elephant”(Iyyaravatham).She comes on “Horse” to remind the birth of “Kaliyuga”. On the Ninth day the “Angalamman” comes on the “Nine-head” snake.She blesses the people on the Tenth day is Festival of “Sathabaranam”(Theppal Thiruvizha). This is the Historical festival of Tamilnadu.Which is celebrated without changing it’s ancient culture.
